Three R-value tiers — R3.9, R6, R8.8 — each ASTM-tested and mapped to a defined temperature band. HexCore™ three-dimensional honeycomb cells hold Mylar in discrete volumes, maintaining thermal geometry under body weight where flat-layer construction compresses. Available in mummy-style fish-profile and rectangular configurations, including a 76.8×51.2 in (195×130cm) double. 20D silver-coated nylon TPU face, MirrorBase™ base, CrozzValve™ valve.

Gennye takes its name from Genyen Peak in the Hengduan Mountains, one of the most rugged, high-altitude backcountry regions in Asia.

During an extended solo trek here, our design team was caught in a sudden, violent alpine storm — high winds, freezing temperatures, and zero visibility. While waiting out the weather beside a glacial lake, they observed a rare native alpine arch fish (schizothorax) moving steadily through near-freezing, fast-moving water.

What stood out wasn’t just its survival in extreme cold and turbulence, but its streamlined, arched body shape that allowed it to hug the terrain, stay stable, and adapt perfectly to harsh, uneven conditions.

That natural efficiency became the blueprint for the Gennye.

We designed its distinctive mummy/fish-shaped profile directly after the fish’s form: engineered to contour closely to the human body, reduce shifting on sloped, rocky ground, eliminate cold spots, and perform reliably in harsh alpine environments. Paired with an ultralight build, high-performance, and fast-flow valve design, the Gennye Pro is built for backpackers who need gear that adapts as well as the wildlife that lives at high altitude.

Features

Three R-value tiers, ASTM-tested

R3.9 (above 23°F / -5°C), R6 (23°F to -4°F / -5 to -20°C), R8.8 (-8°F / -22°C and below); each tier maps to a defined temperature band.

HexCore™ internal structure

Three-dimensional honeycomb cells hold Mylar in discrete volumes, maintaining thermal geometry under body weight rather than allowing flat-layer compression at pressure points.

AcoustiLayer™ acoustic buffer

Mechanically decouples metallized Mylar from the 20D face fabric, eliminating friction-driven crinkling at the source; adds a secondary thermal reflective surface.

20D silver-coated nylon TPU face

Lightweight sealed weld construction; silver coating optimized for thermal reflectivity at the sleep surface.

MirrorBase™ 20D silver-coated base

Additional coating pass calibrated for puncture and abrasion resistance at the ground-contact surface.

Mummy-style fish-profile and rectangular configurations

Mummy at 21.7 in (55cm) shoulder / 13.8 in (35cm) foot with silicone hip grip zones; rectangular in Regular, Long Wide, and Double (76.8×51.2 in / 195×130cm) geometry.

CrozzValve™ two-stage valve

Stage 1: one-way intake with integrated anti-leak seal;
Stage 2: physically independent deflation port, eliminating accidental overnight pressure loss.

Dual-function pump sack

Inflates without mouth contact, keeping moisture out of the TPU chamber across multi-night use; stows as the stuff sack on trail.

FAQS

How do I choose between R3.9, R6, and R8.8?

Each tier maps to an ASTM-tested temperature band: R3.9 for above 23°F (-5°C), R6 for 23°F to -4°F (-5°C to -20°C), R8.8 for -8°F (-22°C) and below. If your trips regularly span two bands, size up.

What does HexCore™ do that flat Mylar layers don't?

Flat Mylar layers compress under body weight, collapsing the air gap that provides insulation at the highest-pressure contact points. HexCore™ three-dimensional honeycomb cells hold Mylar in discrete volumes — the cellular structure resists compression independently, maintaining thermal geometry where it matters most: directly under the torso and hips.

What's the difference between the fish-profile and rectangular configurations?

Fish-profile (21.7 in / 55 cm shoulder, 13.8 in / 35 cm foot) is the lighter option and pairs with mummy sleeping bag geometry. Rectangular variants — including a 76.8×51.2 in (195×130 cm) Double — suit users who move during sleep or share the pad. Weight difference is approximately 6–9 oz depending on size.

Is the valve system the same as GENNYE XT?

Yes. All GENNYE PRO configurations use CrozzValve™ — two-stage, mechanically independent inflate and deflate ports — and include the same dual-function pump sack.

What is fish-profile — is it similar to a mummy sleeping bag shape?

Yes. Fish-profile follows the same logic as a mummy bag: full shoulder width where the body is widest, tapering toward the foot where contact surface narrows. GENNYE is 21.7 in (55 cm) at the shoulder and 13.8 in (35 cm) at the foot. The taper removes material that carries no body weight, reducing pack weight without reducing the insulated surface under your body. Users who move frequently during sleep, or who use a rectangular sleeping bag, should consider the GENNYE PRO in rectangular configuration.
