R6.5 ASTM-tested, 14.1 oz (400g), 3.5 in (9cm) thick — one configuration, fully resolved. AcoustiLayer™ mechanically decouples metallized Mylar from the 20D face fabric, eliminating friction-driven crinkling while adding a secondary thermal reflective layer. MirrorBase™ silver-coated base increases puncture and abrasion resistance at the ground contact surface. CrozzValve™ separates inflation and deflation into independent mechanical paths.

Gennye takes its name from Genyen Peak in the Hengduan Mountains, one of the most rugged, high-altitude backcountry regions in Asia.

During an extended solo trek here, our design team was caught in a sudden, violent alpine storm — high winds, freezing temperatures, and zero visibility. While waiting out the weather beside a glacial lake, they observed a rare native alpine arch fish (schizothorax) moving steadily through near-freezing, fast-moving water.

What stood out wasn’t just its survival in extreme cold and turbulence, but its streamlined, arched body shape that allowed it to hug the terrain, stay stable, and adapt perfectly to harsh, uneven conditions.
That natural efficiency became the blueprint for the Gennye.

We designed its distinctive mummy/fish-shaped profile directly after the fish’s form: engineered to contour closely to the human body, reduce shifting on sloped, rocky ground, eliminate cold spots, and perform reliably in harsh alpine environments. Paired with an ultralight build, high-performance, and fast-flow valve design, the Gennye Pro is built for backpackers who need gear that adapts as well as the wildlife that lives at high altitude.

Features

Six-layer thermal stack, R6.5

ASTM-tested; six discrete Mylar reflection intervals maintain rated warmth across a full alpine night, not just peak hours.

AcoustiLayer™ acoustic buffer

Mechanically decouples metallized Mylar from the 20D face fabric, eliminating friction-driven crinkling at the source; adds a secondary thermal reflective surface.

20D silver-coated nylon TPU face

Lightweight sealed weld construction; silver coating optimized for thermal reflectivity at the sleep surface.

MirrorBase™ 20D silver-coated base

Additional coating pass on the ground-contact layer calibrated for puncture and abrasion resistance rather than thermal reflectivity.

Mummy-style fish-profile, 21.7 in (55cm) shoulder / 13.8 in (35cm) foot

Tapered cut follows the body's actual contact geometry; silicone hip grip zones prevent lateral shifting on sloped terrain.

3.5 in (9cm) air structure

Transverse low-stretch fabric trusses isolate pressure zones along the full pad length, eliminating the lateral redistribution that destabilizes side sleepers.

CrozzValve™ two-stage valve

Stage 1: one-way intake with integrated anti-leak seal

Stage 2: physically independent deflation port, eliminating accidental overnight pressure loss.

Dual-function pump sack

Inflates without mouth contact, keeping moisture out of the TPU chamber across multi-night use; stows as the stuff sack on trail.

FAQS

Is the R6.5 rating ASTM-tested?

Yes. R6.5 is tested to ASTM F3340 — a standardized protocol that controls for contact pressure and ambient temperature. Pads without ASTM certification rely on manufacturer estimates, which are not directly comparable across brands.

What does AcoustiLayer™ actually do?

It mechanically decouples the metallized Mylar from the 20D face fabric, removing the direct contact that produces friction-driven crinkling. The Mylar layer is unchanged — only the contact interface is different. The result is a significantly quieter sleep surface compared to single-layer laminated construction.

Can I mouth-inflate the GENNYE XT?

Yes. The included dual-function pump sack is recommended — it inflates the pad without introducing moisture from exhaled breath into the TPU chamber. Condensed breath inside an air pad should be dried before long-term storage. The same pump sack stows as the stuff sack on trail.

What does "fish-profile" mean — will my feet be cramped?

Fish-profile follows actual body contact geometry: 21.7 in (55 cm) at the shoulders, tapering to 13.8 in (35 cm) at the foot. Material that carries no body weight is removed. GENNYE XT is available in mummy configuration only. Users who prefer a straight-sided pad should consider the GENNYE PRO in rectangular.

What does the two-stage CrozzValve™ prevent?

Stage 1 is the intake-only path with an integrated anti-leak seal. Stage 2 is a physically independent deflation port. Overnight pressure loss from a partially-open valve is structurally prevented — the two stages cannot accidentally cross-activate.

What is fish-profile — is it similar to a mummy sleeping bag shape?

Yes. Fish-profile follows the same logic as a mummy bag: full shoulder width where the body is widest, tapering toward the foot where contact surface narrows. GENNYE is 21.7 in (55 cm) at the shoulder and 13.8 in (35 cm) at the foot. The taper removes material that carries no body weight, reducing pack weight without reducing the insulated surface under your body. Users who move frequently during sleep, or who use a rectangular sleeping bag, should consider the GENNYE PRO in rectangular configuration.
