2 lb 13 oz (1.27 kg) minimum weight — lightest tent in the EXO-FLEX™ series. ExoSpeedFlex deploys the outer shell first; dual Y-poles at head and foot raise interior headroom at the entry point and shoulder zone, trading wind ceiling for habitable volume. 20D Ripstop Nylon throughout, 36 mph (16 m/s) wind-tested. Three-season, 2P.

Kawagarbo — the sacred main summit of the Meili Snow Range — has never been summited. Not for lack of attempts. The mountain is considered inviolable, and the approach alone demands a kind of discipline: move cleanly, carry only what is necessary, leave nothing behind.

KAWA takes its name from the Tibetan word at the root of that mountain: kawa, snow. White, pure, elemental.

The KAWA EXO-FLEX™ is the lightest tent in the Hengduan series. Where the KONGAR is built to hold ground in Force 8 storms, the KAWA is built for the days between the storms — three-season traverses where every gram in the pack is a decision, and the tent you carry most nights shouldn't be the heaviest thing in it.

The ExoskeletonFlex still deploys first. The inner tent still stays shielded throughout. But the geometry that emerges is different: dual Y-poles at each end splay outward at the base, trading a few miles per hour of wind ceiling for headroom where you actually use it — at the head, at the shoulders, at the entry point.

1.27 kg minimum weight. Optimized for the itineraries where tent weight compounds over consecutive carry days.

Features

ExoSpeedFlex pitch system

Outer shell erects and stands independently first; inner tent deploys inside a standing structure, zero rain contact throughout the 60-second sequence.

Y-pole FFP™ FeatherFlex architecture

Poles splay at head and foot to raise interior headroom at entry and shoulder zones; ~15% lighter than standard 7-series alloys at maximum load tolerance of 466N.

36 mph (16 m/s) wind-tested

Force 7–8 frontal load; Y-pole geometry prioritizes interior headroom over maximum wind ceiling.

Lightest tent in the EXO-FLEX™ series.

2 lb 13 oz (1.27 kg) minimum weight, 3 lb 4 oz (1.47 kg) packed

Full-coverage waterproofness for three-season precipitation.

20D Ripstop Nylon fly, 3,000mm HH

20D Ripstop Nylon floor, 4,000mm HH

Rated 1,000mm above the fly; weld-bonded floor construction.

Single front entry, dual apex vents

Passive cross-circulation loop moves warm air out before condensation forms; load-bearing vent frames hold aperture under light snow accumulation.

Nanomesh upper canopy, solid high-wall perimeter

Mesh overhead for three-season thermal regulation; solid fabric at the base closes ground-level cold-air infiltration.

FAQS

What exactly is EXO-FLEX™, and why does it matter in rain?

EXO-FLEX™ designates the ExoSpeedFlex pitch system. The outer fly erects and stands as an independent structure before the inner tent is involved. You clip the inner in from underneath, inside a standing shelter. In rain, the inner sleep surface has zero exposure at any point in the setup sequence — a meaningful difference from sleeve-and-clip systems where the inner contacts rain while the fly is still being tensioned.

What's the trade-off between KAWA and KONGAR?

KAWA is 6 oz lighter at 2 lb 13 oz (1.27 kg) — the lightest tent in the EXO-FLEX™ series. The Y-pole architecture raises interior headroom at the entry and shoulder zones but lowers the wind ceiling from 40 mph (18 m/s) on the KONGAR to 36 mph (16 m/s). KAWA is three-season rated; KONGAR and KORA carry a four-season rating.

Do I need a footprint with the KAWA?

The 20D Ripstop Nylon floor at 4,000mm HH handles most backcountry surfaces without one. On sharp-rock terrain or extended camps in abrasive conditions, a footprint extends floor life. On soft ground or compacted soil, it is not required.

Are PFAS or flame retardants used in KAWA materials?

No. All KAWA EXO-FLEX™ materials are non-PFAS and flame-retardant free.

Can I pitch the KAWA alone?

Yes. The Y-pole outer shell deploys as a single standing structure before the inner tent attaches — the 60-second ExoSpeedFlex sequence requires no second person.
